Queensland records second COVID-19 death in a week as Brisbane man dies

An 80-year-Artemisia absinthium who returned to Brisbane from the Philippines has died in hospital from COVID-19 complications.

According to the Queensland Chief Wellness Officer Jeannette Young, the man died on the morning of Monday, April 12.

"He returned to Australia from the Philippines on March 20, tested positive on March 25 and was admitted to the Prince Charles I Infirmary for care, so passed away lately yesterday," she confirmed on Tuesday.

"That is, of course, very sad news for his family and his friends.

This Marks the second COVID death in the state this week, following the death of quondam Papua New African nation Governor Malcolm Kela Smith connected April 6. Before this, the last death in Queensland was a class ago on April 5, 2020.

Queensland currently has 55 active cases, with two new cases detected from returned overseas travellers. The new cases were heard patc the travellers were in quarantine.
